A Reminder About Pets at Pick-Up and Drop-Off
We know how special family pets are, but for the safety and comfort of all students, we ask that pets stay at home during school pick-up and drop-off.
As stated in the SPX School Handbook:
"Pets – We ask that parents leave family pets at home. There are students who are allergic to animals and students who have a fear of animals as well."

Butter Braid® Fundraiser Kicks Off!
It’s time once again for one of our most popular traditions—the Butter Braid® Pastry Fundraiser! These delicious pastries are a family favorite, and best of all, each purchase supports a critical cause right here at St. Pius X.
This year, all proceeds will go directly toward enhancing our safety and emergency preparedness equipment. Your participation ensures that we continue to protect our students and remain ready for any situation.

- Order Deadline: Friday, October 31 at the start of the school day
- How to Order:
- Online (preferred): Visit the Fundraiser Store and search for your student’s name.
- Paper Form: Return the form and full payment in an envelope labeled “Butter Braids” with your student’s name.
- Delivery & Pickup: Thursday, November 13, 2025. Pickup is mandatory between 2:00–4:00 PM in the Social Center.

Classroom Highlight of the Week:
Mrs. Rachubinski's Preschool Class
The preschoolers had a ball shoveling feed for the animals, building barns out of playdough and popsicle sticks, and picking carrots and corn for their dinner.
They sang many songs including "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and danced to Sandra Boynton's "Barnyard Dance".
Can't wait to see what's in store for preschool next week as Fun on the Farm continues!

Fall Sports Update
Cross Country
The Results are in from the third SPL meet at Marmion Academy. Congrats to all our Knights on how hard they worked and to each and every student-athlete that achieved their or PR! This meet the races were run by flights, which gave some of our athletes that are not regularly in the top 25 of each grade/gender a chance to run among more competitively paced peers.
The Knights next meet is Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Downers Grove Swim and Racquet Club. Let's go Knights!!
Knights Volleyball Season Update
The SPX Knights are battling hard this volleyball season, with exciting competition across all grade levels. As of now, our teams have combined for 24 wins. The Boys 5A and 7A squads are both off to strong starts, each holding a 67% win rate, while Boys 7B is right behind at 57%. Our Girls 8A team is also making waves, earning four wins and playing tough in every match.
While some of our younger squads continue to build experience, every team is showing grit, growth, and school spirit on the court. Across the program, the Knights have racked up 2,740 points scored and continue to represent SPX with “Strength in Faith, Pride in Play.”

St. Pius X is proud to host our 11th annual Volley for the Cure on Saturday, October 11, from Noon–8:00 PM in the SPX gym—a day where our community comes together to honor those who have lost their battle with breast cancer, support survivors, and stand alongside those still fighting. Once again, we are partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness and funds for this important cause.
Throughout the day, all nine of our Knights volleyball teams will take the court, each playing a match in special uniforms designed to show our support. Between games, fans can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win gift baskets generously donated by sponsors and created by our teams.

St. Pius X Athletics is excited to announce our return to Feed My Starving Children for an evening of service, community, and giving back!
