Walking Through Advent With a Knight’s Heart
December always comes in swinging — concerts, cookies, shopping lists, juggling schedules, and the general holiday swirl that somehow speeds up time itself. It’s beautiful, yes, but it can also knock even the strongest Knight off balance.
But here we are, closing out the first week of Advent, and the Church gives us a simple, powerful reminder:
“Stay awake, for the coming of the Lord.”
It’s not about losing sleep — it’s about staying attentive.
Awake to grace.
Awake to the needs around us.
Awake to the presence of Christ moving quietly through our days.
And honestly? That lines up pretty perfectly with our Knight Code.
Especially the virtues that feel tailor-made for this season: Servitude, Gratitude, and Peace.
Servitude calls us to look beyond our own busy schedules and ask, “Who needs a hand?” Knights serve without expecting anything in return — and Advent gives us a hundred small chances to live that out.

Meet Your St. Pius X
School Board
The St. Pius X Parish School Board works in partnership with our pastor and principal to support a long-term plan for the success of our school. Guided by our vision of Building Minds, Hearts, and Souls, the board is made up of school parents who serve in an advisory role, offering counsel, perspective, and support to help strengthen our faith-based community.
A key part of this work is listening. The board helps ensure that parent voices are heard and considered in school planning and priorities. In the coming weeks, families will receive invitations to participate in small-group listening sessions focused on key aspects of school life. The insights gathered will help inform our discussions with school leadership and guide future planning.

Santa's Secret Shop was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who helped with setup, worked during the event, and made cleanup a breeze. The kids seemed to have a fantastic time!
We are looking for volunteers to help supervise lunch coverage during the school day so that all of our teachers and staff can enjoy their special meal together at the same time. This is a special part of the day where we can have them all in one spot to enjoy a meal and thank them for their service.

Hoops, Halftime Hype & Heart
The hardwood is calling, and next weekend, it finally feels like winter sports season at St. Pius X! Our SPX Knights Basketball Home Opener tips off Friday, December 12, and we’re stacking the night with everything that makes this place electric.
We’re leading with our 8th grade teams, who will set the tone for the season with that trademark Knights hustle, grit, and… let’s be honest… a little swagger. But that’s just the beginning. Friday night is also a full showcase of the SPX Dance Program, with halftime performances that span our entire community:
- 6:00 PM Game: The Littlest Knights Dance Team — tiny dancers, big stage energy.
- 7:00 PM Game: Knight Crew — grades 1–8 bringing the power, the spirit, and the flips.
- 8:00 PM Game: Knight Life, our brand-new adult dance team, making their debut and proving that Knight Pride definitely doesn’t have an age limit.
If you’re looking for a night where the gym is loud, the crowd is standing, and the black-and-gold feels alive — this is it.
But we’re not done.
Come right back on Saturday, December 13 at 7 PM for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Night. It’s our chance to cheer for the people who pour into our kids every single day — and yes, we plan to spoil them a little along the way. Expect fun, gratitude, and a whole lot of Knight spirit woven into the evening.

Join the Dance and Basketball Teams at the
WINDY CITY BULLS!
On Saturday, January 3rd, our St. Pius dancers and 8th-grade basketball players will have the incredible opportunity to perform and play at the NOW Arena during the 7:00 PM
Windy City Bulls game!
The dancers will perform at halftime, while the basketball players will take the court pregame.
All attendees are required to have a ticket — this includes basketball players and dancers. Each athlete must be accompanied by an adult.
We have a reserved section at mid-court! Ticket sales will remain open through December, though reserved seating is limited. Come support our St. Pius Knights in a fun night of Windy City Bulls entertainment and community!!
Youth Ministry is Alive and Thriving at SPX!
Youth ministry, you might ask? What exactly IS youth ministry? Youth ministry offers a safe space for teens in our parish to come & gather to learn more about our Catholic faith. Is it like religion class? No, not exactly. The teens develop fellowship, are openly encouraged to ask questions about our faith, dig a little deeper into Catholicism, and have a new outlet to hang out in. They will learn more about who they are, their relationship with God, and gain faith encounters and experiences they may otherwise miss out on. Give YM a try - ya never know what God has planned for YOU!
