As the calendar winds down and our final Knightly News of the year lands in your inbox, the halls of St. Pius X grow a little quieter—but the spirit of our community does not. We stand in the heart of the holy season, where Advent leads us gently into Christmas, inviting every Knight to pause, reflect, and remember what truly matters.
This season calls us beyond the busyness, the travel plans, the gifts, and the gatherings. It reminds us—quietly but persistently—to look outward. To notice those who may feel alone, those in need of comfort, and those for whom this season is heavy.
A true Knight does not pass by; a true Knight serves. Whether it’s a kind word, a helping hand, or a moment of prayer, small acts of love carry great weight this time of year.
As school doors close for break and routines shift, we also encourage our Knights and families to carry God with them wherever they go. Faith is not confined to the classroom or the pew—it lives in our homes, our travels, our conversations, and our choices. Stay awake to His presence. Make room for prayer. Gather as a family. Let Christ remain at the center, even while away from campus.
May this season bring you peace, rest, and renewal. May it strengthen our resolve to return in the new year ready to serve, to lead, and to live out the Knight Code with courage and compassion.

Tracking Volunteer Hours at St. Pius X
Dear St. Pius X Parish Families,
As members of the St. Pius X Catholic Community—whether you are connected through the school, the parish, or both—we ask that all adult members log a minimum of 6 hours of volunteer service throughout the year. This shared commitment strengthens our mission, builds community, and ensures that the many programs and ministries of St. Pius X continue to thrive.
To make this easier and more organized, we are centralizing both volunteer opportunities and hour tracking within MobileServe. Within the platform, you will find a digital bulletin board of service opportunities, making it simple to see where help is needed and how you can get involved.
To give this aspect of our community a name and a home, we are officially introducing the St. Pius X Service Society. If opportunities are ever needed or questions arise regarding service expectations, you may reach out directly at servicesociety@stpiuslombard.org.
We will be using MobileServe to track all volunteer hours in one convenient location. Whether your service takes place through school events, athletics, parish ministries, or community outreach, all hours should be logged in MobileServe.

The Week in Photos
This week at St. Pius X Parish School was filled with faith, focus, and meaningful moments. We began on Monday by celebrating the Immaculate Conception Mass, made especially memorable as our teachers stepped forward to proclaim the Scriptures—an inspiring reminder of their leadership in both faith and learning. Tuesday, thanks to the generous contributions and hard work from our PSA and volunteer parents, our teachers had a wonderful holiday luncheon.
Throughout the week, we captured candid classroom moments of hard-working SPX students engaged, focused, and doing what they do best: growing their minds and hearts.
We closed the week with the beautiful Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass, where Fr. Ed Shea joined our community to help us honor Mary and reflect on her appearance in Mexico. Our students played an active role in this special celebration, deepening their understanding of the Blessed Mother and the rich traditions of our Catholic faith.

School Board
The St. Pius X Parish School Board works in partnership with our pastor and principal to support a long-term plan for the success of our school. Guided by our vision of Building Minds, Hearts, and Souls, the board is made up of school parents who serve in an advisory role, offering counsel, perspective, and support to help strengthen our faith-based community.
A key part of this work is listening. The board helps ensure that parent voices are heard and considered in school planning and priorities. In the coming weeks, families will receive invitations to participate in small-group listening sessions focused on key aspects of school life. The insights gathered will help inform our discussions with school leadership and guide future planning.

On Tuesday, we honored our teachers, administration, and parish staff with a Christmas Luncheon. Thank you to everyone who helped with setup, worked during the event, and made cleanup a breeze. They all had a wonderful lunch and were able to enjoy time together!

Home Opener Weekend Tips Off in Style
The hardwood is calling, and next weekend, it finally feels like winter sports season at St. Pius X! Our SPX Knights Basketball Home Opener tips off Friday, December 12, and we’re stacking the night with everything that makes this place electric.
We’re leading with our 8th grade teams, who will set the tone for the season with that trademark Knights hustle, grit, and… let’s be honest… a little swagger. But that’s just the beginning. Friday night is also a full showcase of the SPX Dance Program, with halftime performances that span our entire community:
- 6:00 PM Game: The Littlest Knights Dance Team — tiny dancers, big stage energy.
- 7:00 PM Game: Knight Crew — grades 1–8 bringing the power, the spirit, and the flips.
- 8:00 PM Game: Knight Life, our brand-new adult dance team, making their debut and proving that Knight Pride definitely doesn’t have an age limit.
If you’re looking for a night where the gym is loud, the crowd is standing, and the black-and-gold feels alive — this is it.
But we’re not done.
Come right back on Saturday, December 13 at 7 PM for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Night. It’s our chance to cheer for the people who pour into our kids every single day — and yes, we plan to spoil them a little along the way. Expect fun, gratitude, and a whole lot of Knight spirit woven into the evening.

Join the Dance and Basketball Teams at the
WINDY CITY BULLS!
On Saturday, January 3rd, our St. Pius dancers and 8th-grade basketball players will have the incredible opportunity to perform and play at the NOW Arena during the 7:00 PM
Windy City Bulls game!
The dancers will perform at halftime, while the basketball players will take the court pregame.
All attendees are required to have a ticket — this includes basketball players and dancers. Each athlete must be accompanied by an adult.
We have a reserved section at mid-court! Ticket sales will remain open through December, though reserved seating is limited. Come support our St. Pius Knights in a fun night of Windy City Bulls entertainment and community!!
Youth Ministry is Alive and Thriving at SPX!
Youth ministry, you might ask? What exactly IS youth ministry? Youth ministry offers a safe space for teens in our parish to come & gather to learn more about our Catholic faith. Is it like religion class? No, not exactly. The teens develop fellowship, are openly encouraged to ask questions about our faith, dig a little deeper into Catholicism, and have a new outlet to hang out in. They will learn more about who they are, their relationship with God, and gain faith encounters and experiences they may otherwise miss out on. Give YM a try - ya never know what God has planned for YOU!
