If you’ve been around St. Pius X long enough, you’ve heard it said before—but it bears repeating, especially this time of year: tuition alone does not cover the true cost of running and staffing a fantastic school. It simply doesn’t. What it does cover is part of the picture. The rest—the excellence, the faith formation, the small class sizes, the dedicated teachers who go above and beyond—that’s where our community steps in.
That’s where the Auction comes in.
This isn’t just a night out. It isn’t just bidding on great items or enjoying good food and a lively room. The Auction is the lifeblood that helps keep the lights on, the classrooms strong, and our mission moving forward. It bridges the gap between what tuition provides and what it truly costs to deliver the St. Pius X experience we all believe in.

One of the most anticipated events of the St. Pius X school year is fast approaching—our Gala & Fundraiser Auction, a night where community, celebration, and purpose come together in true Knightly fashion.
The Gala is more than an evening out. It is a cornerstone event that directly supports the mission of St. Pius X Parish School, helping us bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of providing a faith-filled, academically excellent education. From supporting programs and resources to investing in our students and staff, every bid placed and every paddle raised strengthens the future of our Knights.
As always, the Auction will feature a curated lineup of experiences, outings, and one-of-a-kind packages designed to bring families and friends together. And to kick things off in a big way, one item is already stealing the spotlight.
A True Knight at the Races
And they’re off! One of the most entertaining feature activities at this year’s St. Pius X Gala and Fundraiser Auction will be our Kentucky Derby–style horse racing experience.
Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy three thrilling races, each featuring between 18 and 20 horses. Every race will include official post positions and odds, giving guests the chance to study the field, trust their instincts, and place their bets.
Here’s how it works: each bid on a horse is a flat $20, and each horse is capped at a maximum of 10 bids. Once the race begins, it’s all about cheering your horse down the stretch and hoping they cross the finish line first.
Winners of each race will be rewarded in true Kentucky fashion with a custom, St. Pius X–branded bottle of Maker's Mark Bourbon — a perfect keepsake and a great way to toast a winning pick.
Fast-paced, high-energy, and full of friendly competition, the Gala races are sure to be a highlight of the night. Whether you’re feeling lucky or just in it for the fun, this is one feature you won’t want to miss.

Touchdown Saturday in South Bend
Feel the roar. Live the tradition. Experience college football at its finest.
Bid on 6 lower-level tickets to an iconic matchup at Notre Dame Stadium as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the Michigan State Spartans on September 19, 2026.
These tickets are generously donated by longtime Notre Dame season ticket holders. While exact seats will be finalized after the annual lottery in May, rest assured—they are lower-level seats that routinely retail for $300–$350 per ticket. That’s an unforgettable game-day experience valued at well over $1,800.
Whether you’re entertaining clients, treating family and friends, or checking off a bucket-list sports experience, this is a touchdown-level auction item.

Our Gala plays a vital role in helping bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the true operating cost of our school. This year, we aim to raise more than $100,000 in net revenue to support our teachers, programs, and students. The Week in Photos: Celebrating Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week at St. Pius X was a joyful celebration of faith, community, and school spirit.
We began on Sunday with our Open House, welcoming prospective families and making a strong impression on future Knights.
Monday featured Pajama Day and a powerful anti-bullying BMX assembly, reminding students of the importance of kindness and courage.
On Tuesday, students wore jerseys and gathered for a high-energy Pep Rally, celebrating our athletes and Pride in Pius. Wednesday’s USA Day included our 3rd graders proudly showcasing their state floats for the school to enjoy, and later that evening our teachers modeled service by serving the community at Culver’s.
Thursday’s Spirit Wear Day focused on vocations, and our 8th graders traveled to Chicago for a field trip to see Hamlet. Student Council also hosted fellowship following Mass.
We wrapped up the school week on Friday by appreciating our staff and volunteers, welcoming parents with donuts at drop-off, and giving students a well-earned Break the Rules Day and Game Day afternoon.
The celebration continues on Saturday, as we honor our families with a full day of basketball, Alumni Night, Athletics Hall of Fame inductions, and Family Night at the Chicago Wolves.
Catholic Schools Week truly reflected the heart of St. Pius X—faith in action, joyful learning, and a strong, connected community.

Tracking Volunteer Hours at St. Pius X
Dear St. Pius X Parish Families,
As members of the St. Pius X Catholic Community—whether you are connected through the school, the parish, or both—we ask that all adult members log a minimum of 6 hours of volunteer service throughout the year. This shared commitment strengthens our mission, builds community, and ensures that the many programs and ministries of St. Pius X continue to thrive.
To make this easier and more organized, we are centralizing both volunteer opportunities and hour tracking within MobileServe. Within the platform, you will find a digital bulletin board of service opportunities, making it simple to see where help is needed and how you can get involved.
To give this aspect of our community a name and a home, we are officially introducing the St. Pius X Service Society. If opportunities are ever needed or questions arise regarding service expectations, you may reach out directly at servicesociety@stpiuslombard.org.
We will be using MobileServe to track all volunteer hours in one convenient location. Whether your service takes place through school events, athletics, parish ministries, or community outreach, all hours should be logged in MobileServe.

Battle of the Books:
Team Up and Get Reading
Teams Forms Need to be Submitted by Friday, Feb. 6
St. Pius X students in grades 3–8 are invited to participate in Battle of the Books, an exciting reading incentive program that combines teamwork, competition, and a love of literature.
Students form their own teams of 6–8 members, grouped by grade level, choose a creative team name, and select a parent volunteer to serve as their coach. Teams work together to divide and read a diverse list of books, preparing through group meetings leading up to the competition.
Team roster forms must be completed and returned to the school office by Friday, February, 6, 2026. This allows teams to receive their official book lists and begin preparing for the event.
The Battle of the Books competition will take place on May 1 from 3:15–5:00 pm in the Social Center, featuring head-to-head rounds where teams answer questions based on the books they’ve read.
Battle of the Books is a fun and meaningful way for students to build reading skills, collaboration, and confidence. We look forward to seeing our Knights team up and dive into great books this spring.

Calling all readers! Battle of the Books is a fun academic competition where students work together to answer questions based on a selected list of books—building comprehension, teamwork, and a love of reading along the way. Teams consist of 8 students and a parent coach.

Super Bowl Squares
are Back!
The St. Pius Dads Club is running Super Bowl Squares again—$50 per square with $650 payouts at the end of each quarter, giving you four chances to win big. All proceeds support emergency supply bags for every classroom, as requested by our amazing teachers and staff. Knights Basketball Update
As we move deeper into the heart of the winter season, Knights Basketball continues to compete with grit, growth, and determination across all grade levels. With 32 total wins and strong performances in multiple divisions, our student-athletes are gaining valuable experience and representing St. Pius X with pride.
Several teams remain firmly in the playoff conversation, highlighted by standout efforts from Boys 7A (5–2) and Boys 7B (6–1), both sitting near the top of their divisions, along with Boys 8B (6–2) continuing to battle against tough competition. These squads have combined strong teamwork with disciplined play on both ends of the court.
While some teams have faced challenging schedules and close games that didn’t always fall our way, the growth has been evident across the program. From learning new systems to battling through adversity, our Knights are developing resilience, sportsmanship, and confidence—qualities that extend far beyond the scoreboard.
As we head into the final stretch of league play, we’re excited to see continued improvement, spirited crowds in the stands, and Knights finishing the season strong. Thank you to our coaches, families, and fans for the continued support—it truly makes a difference.

Knights Track & Field Registration is Open!
Registration is now open for St. Pius X Knights Track & Field, and we’re excited to welcome runners, jumpers, and throwers to another great spring season!
Track & Field at SPX is more than just competition—it’s an opportunity for students to grow in confidence, discipline, and teamwork while staying active in a supportive, faith-filled environment. Whether your child is brand new to the sport or ready to compete at a high level, there’s a place for them on the track.
Who Can Participate
- Competitive Team (Grades 5–8)
- Season runs March–May
- Practices up to 4x per week (1.5 hours) at St. Pius X and Willowbrook High School
- Meets on Saturdays (JV: approx. 8am–Noon | Varsity: Noon–4pm)
- Registration Fee: $65
- Singlet Requirement: $30 (reusable for Cross Country & Track; not required if you already have one that fits)
- Developmental League (Grades 3–4)
- Introductory program focused on fundamentals and fun
- Practices 2x per week, aligned with the competitive team
- Culminates in a season-ending meet (date TBD)
- Registration Fee: $50

Youth Ministry is Alive and Thriving at SPX!
Youth ministry, you might ask? What exactly IS youth ministry? Youth ministry offers a safe space for teens in our parish to come & gather to learn more about our Catholic faith. Is it like religion class? No, not exactly. The teens develop fellowship, are openly encouraged to ask questions about our faith, dig a little deeper into Catholicism, and have a new outlet to hang out in. They will learn more about who they are, their relationship with God, and gain faith encounters and experiences they may otherwise miss out on. Give YM a try - ya never know what God has planned for YOU!
